Nts that I didn t now As a graphic designer it s always good to read around a #subject and this was definitely one of the better reads I would read it again #and this was definitely one of the better reads I would read it again a heartbeat Sarah Hyndman s book is amazing I have recently been preparing two sessions of lectures and workshops on hand made typography based *on poetry for school and university students so I thought was high time I got hold of a *poetry for and university students so I thought it was high time I got hold of a of this bookI was than eager to find out about Sarah s extensive research by experiment on how type can set the mood reveal one s personality and appeal to our senses I was especially intrigued by Sarah s innovative approach of looking at the type sideways which is similarly how people respond emotionally to works of art through sensory perceptions without nowing the context Who would have thought that type can cry laugh shout smell and can be sad or happy or even aggressive or calmI love in particular the section on the edible type as that is exactly the ind of idea my two workshops will emphasise the importance of bringing life skills from all areas into the design process I often hear ids asking why do I need to learn this or that it s of no use it s so boring whatever With such an excellent book on hand that shows everything from the punk and grunge to the neat and tidy they may perhaps believe me when I say that design is important I used this book as the guideline for my Senior Project on Typography We continued the experiments and found that each experiment was supported with the data we collected Such an exciting take on typography in design and graphics Sarah Hynd. Hidden in plain sight they trigger memories associations and multi sensory experiences in your imagination You may not believe it but fonts can change the meanings of words right before your very eyes alter the taste of your food evoke emotional responses and reveal their users' pers. HOPED IT WOULD BE IT ISit would be It is with interesting and useful information presented beautifully as you would expect from a book about typefaces But the best bit for me is that it makes the topic fun and exciting If you didn t now you were interested in typography already then you definitely will be after reading this book xmas gift This book is a great read with lots of experiments showing the importance of font I have used this book in my university classes and the students it as much as I do This past November Sarah s work was at Adobe MAX which was a multi sensory exhibit that so many people enjoyed I highly recommend following Sarah on Instagram typetasting always lots of fun with type This book is exceptional I found it in the San Francisco Airport Bookstore My travel partner offered to buy it for me and I declined it thinking it would be just another cool book on my bookshelf but not particularly useful Fast forward a few months as I launch a website and a business card Now I am scrambling to remember the name of this book and how to locate it Luckily had it Sarah Hyndman does a fabulous job of analyzing the meaning and emotion that fonts connote Well worth the purchase for anyone interested in marketing and branding themselves and their printed material Sara Boyce Loved it Really useful book with loads of interesting things about fo.
